Scope and Content

Fr. Leo Gabriel of St. Anthony Monastery in Detroit, Michigan, asks Merton to write an article about the Black Power movement and what Christians can do to support African Americans. There is no date, but it mentions Merton's hermitage, so it is likely between 1965-1968. Though there is no extant reply from Merton, it mentions a prior offer Merton made to write an article for a publication of St. Anthony Monastery.
