Scope and Content

Merton responds to a letter from Ted Tatman who was at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He sends one of his mimeographed circular letters with a handwritten note.

Biography

Note that Rev. Theodore Nelson (Ted) Tatman later in life legally changed his name to Theodore N. McGill.

Depression is, or has been, most of me  [written "Dear Tom" but not to Thomas Merton - Tatman knows of Merton's death and refers to him as "Thomas" throughout the letter / it includes a poem about Merton by Tatman, "my father died last Tuesday in bangkok"]
