Scope and Content

William Sloane Associates were planning to published a book on poetry by Merton's friend and former professor, Mark Van Doren, entitled Introduction to Poetry (another addition was entitled Enjoying Poetry). Merton's poem "For My Brother" was included in each addition. Sloane also asks if Merton would like to compile an anthology of passages from books that led him through his spiritual path as exemplified in The Seven Storey Mountain.

William Milligan Sloane was a publisher (William Sloane Associates) writing from New York. He also was an author of mysteries and science fiction.
