Scope and Content

Merton responds to a letter by Thomas Merriam and a statement sent by Merriam from Grace Branham on renewal in liturgical spirituality. Merton suggests some theologians who could help clear the air of a special weakness in the recognition of symbolism in art and poetry endemic to American Catholicism. He suggests Hans Urs Von Balthasar, Jean Danielou, Hugo Rahner, and [Hubert?] Musurillo.
