Scope and Content

There is a discussion of Garfinkel continuing John Slate's work with setting up a literary trust for Merton. In the end, the decision was made to find an attorney in Louisville to handle trust matters (see "Ford, John J." file).

Biography

Barry Garfinkel was an attorney from New York with the firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom. Merton's friend John H. Slate had died in September of 1967.
