Scope and Content

Thomas McDonnell had suggested that Correia-Afonso send Merton his book The Soul of Modern India. Merton and Correia-Afonso briefly discuss Christian humanism and the need for an East-West dialogue. The file contains original letters from Correia-Afonso and from Merton.

Biography

Fr. John Correia-Afonso was a Jesuit writing to Merton from St. Xavier College in Bombay.
